[ 01 ] · What You're Renting

Dig It Right.

An excavator is the most-rented machine on our yard for a reason — nothing else moves dirt, digs to depth, and works in tight spots the way a hydraulic excavator does. We run the Kubota KX line end to end, so whether you're cutting a footing, pulling a stump, laying drain pipe, or digging a basement, there's a size that fits the job and the access.

Every machine is a late-model unit, maintained between every rental, and it leaves the yard fueled, greased, and ready. If it's your first time running one, we'll walk you through the controls before you pull out — and the mobile line stays open if you hit anything unexpected on site.

Not sure which size you need? Skip ahead to the sizing guide below, or just call the yard and tell us what you're digging. We've run them all.

[ 03 ] · What Crews Dig With Them

Built for the Real Jobs

USE · 01

Footings & Foundations

Cut clean, square footing trenches and dig out foundations and basements. The 040 and 057 are the everyday picks; the 080 when the dig is deep.

USE · 02

Septic & Drain Fields

Tank holes, lateral lines, and grade work. The KX057's angle blade backfills without re-spotting — a favorite of septic installers across the county.

USE · 03

Ponds & Waterways

Shape banks, clean out farm ponds, and cut drainage. Reach and bucket force matter here — step up to the KX057 or KX080.

USE · 04

Utility Trenching

Water, power, and conduit runs. A KX033 or KX040 with a ditching bucket digs straight, consistent trench all day.

USE · 05

Land Clearing & Stumps

Pull stumps, grub roots, and clear brush with a thumb attachment. Bigger root balls call for the bucket force of the 057 and up.

USE · 06

Demolition & Grading

Tear out, load out, and rough-grade the site. Add a breaker for concrete and a thumb for handling debris.

[ 04 ] · Which Size Do You Need?

Match the Machine to the Job

Two questions decide it: how tight is the access, and how deep do you have to dig? Here's the quick read.

1–3 TON

Mini

KX018 & KX033. Fits through gates as narrow as 3'5", works backyards and tight lots, won't tear up the lawn. Digs 7–10 ft. The pick for homeowners and tight residential work.

3–5 TON

Compact

KX040 (open or cab). The everyday contractor size — footings, utilities, septic, foundations. Digs 11 ft, runs a thumb or breaker, still trailers without a CDL setup.

5–7 TON

Mid

KX057. Where the 4-tons start sweating, this hits its stride — septic systems, ponds, basement digs. Angle blade backfills 6-way; digs nearly 13 ft.

8 TON+

Workhorse

KX080. Production digging — commercial pads, ag drainage, deep utilities. 14 ft of dig depth, 22 ft of reach, and the bucket force to keep a crew moving.

Round Out the Job

Excavator
Questions.

Straight answers on sizing, towing, attachments, and rates.

It comes down to access and dig depth. A 1.8–3 ton mini (KX018/KX033) fits through gates and works backyards; a 4-ton (KX040) handles foundations and utility trenches; the 5.7-ton KX057 takes on septic and pond work; the 8.5-ton KX080 is for production digging with 14 feet of depth. Tell us the job and we'll match the class.
The KX018 (4,030 lb) and KX033 (7,560 lb) trailer behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton truck on the right trailer. The 040 and up need heavier towing. If you'd rather not haul it, we deliver across all five counties.
Every excavator leaves the yard with a digging bucket. We also rent ditching buckets, hydraulic thumbs, breakers, augers, compactors, and rippers — just ask when you reserve so we have it fitted and ready.
Full fuel tank, fresh greasing, and a walk-through on how to run it before you leave the yard. Bring it back full. No fuel-surcharge games.
Two days or less, take the day rate. Three to five days, the weekly usually works out better. Longer than two weeks, ask about monthly. Tell us the job and we'll tell you which way is cheaper and quote it on the spot.
Yes — across Halifax, Mecklenburg, Pittsylvania, Charlotte, and Brunswick counties. Delivery is a flat fee by zip with no surprise mileage charges. Call 434-572-6992 for your rate.
