Six classes of late-model Kubota excavator — from the 1.8-ton KX018 that fits through a backyard gate to the 8.5-ton KX080 that digs 14 feet down. Clean machines, fair rates, and someone who answers the phone. Daily, weekly, or monthly, delivered anywhere in Southside Virginia.
An excavator is the most-rented machine on our yard for a reason — nothing else moves dirt, digs to depth, and works in tight spots the way a hydraulic excavator does. We run the Kubota KX line end to end, so whether you're cutting a footing, pulling a stump, laying drain pipe, or digging a basement, there's a size that fits the job and the access.
Every machine is a late-model unit, maintained between every rental, and it leaves the yard fueled, greased, and ready. If it's your first time running one, we'll walk you through the controls before you pull out — and the mobile line stays open if you hit anything unexpected on site.
Not sure which size you need? Skip ahead to the sizing guide below, or just call the yard and tell us what you're digging. We've run them all.

Cut clean, square footing trenches and dig out foundations and basements. The 040 and 057 are the everyday picks; the 080 when the dig is deep.
Tank holes, lateral lines, and grade work. The KX057's angle blade backfills without re-spotting — a favorite of septic installers across the county.
Shape banks, clean out farm ponds, and cut drainage. Reach and bucket force matter here — step up to the KX057 or KX080.
Water, power, and conduit runs. A KX033 or KX040 with a ditching bucket digs straight, consistent trench all day.
Pull stumps, grub roots, and clear brush with a thumb attachment. Bigger root balls call for the bucket force of the 057 and up.
Tear out, load out, and rough-grade the site. Add a breaker for concrete and a thumb for handling debris.
Two questions decide it: how tight is the access, and how deep do you have to dig? Here's the quick read.
KX018 & KX033. Fits through gates as narrow as 3'5", works backyards and tight lots, won't tear up the lawn. Digs 7–10 ft. The pick for homeowners and tight residential work.
KX040 (open or cab). The everyday contractor size — footings, utilities, septic, foundations. Digs 11 ft, runs a thumb or breaker, still trailers without a CDL setup.
KX057. Where the 4-tons start sweating, this hits its stride — septic systems, ponds, basement digs. Angle blade backfills 6-way; digs nearly 13 ft.
KX080. Production digging — commercial pads, ag drainage, deep utilities. 14 ft of dig depth, 22 ft of reach, and the bucket force to keep a crew moving.
