[ 01 ] · What You're Renting

Get Up There.

When the work is two and three stories up and a ladder is either too short or too sketchy to be safe, a boom lift is what gets a crew to it. Our Genie 4×4 boom carries you up to 60 ft of working height on a stout rough-terrain chassis, so you can park a worker and his tools right at the eave, the sign band, or the limb you're cutting — and keep both hands on the job instead of on the rail.

Unlike a scissor lift that only goes straight up, a boom puts the platform out away from the machine. That lets you stand the lift on solid ground and still work over a flowerbed, a parked truck, or a low roof. Every machine leaves the yard charged or fueled, greased, and checked, and we'll run you through the platform controls and the ground-control override before you ever leave the ground.

Not sure whether you need a telescopic stick or an articulating knuckle? Skip ahead to choosing a boom below, or just call the yard and tell us what you're reaching. We've put crews on every kind of work there is up high.

[ 03 ] · What Crews Reach With Them

Built for the High Work

USE · 01

Siding & Gutter Work

Hang, repair, or paint siding and run new gutter on a two- or three-story face. Position the platform flat against the wall and work a full bay without re-spotting a ladder every eight feet.

USE · 02

Sign Installation & Service

Set, re-lamp, or service pole signs, building letters, and parking-lot signage. The outreach lets you stand clear of the pylon and still get the platform right where the work is.

USE · 03

Tree Trimming & Removal

Get a saw up into the canopy without spurs or climbing line. The articulating boom maneuvers around limbs and trunks to reach the cut from a stable platform.

USE · 04

Building Maintenance & Painting

Wash, caulk, repaint trim, and service light fixtures on commercial and church buildings. Steady up high and easy to reposition along the wall as the work moves.

USE · 05

Steel & Framing

Set purlins, bolt connections, and detail steel on metal buildings and pole barns. The straight-reach telescopic stick puts an ironworker right at the joint.

USE · 06

Up-and-Over Obstacle Reach

Reach work behind a low roof, over a fence, or past landscaping when there's no clear path straight up. The knuckle boom goes up, out, and back down to the spot.

[ 04 ] · Which Boom Do You Need?

Choose Your Boom

Three questions decide it: how high, is the path straight or blocked, and what's the ground like? Here's the quick read — and the safety rules that don't move.

STRAIGHT

Telescopic

A straight stick boom that pushes out for maximum height and the longest horizontal outreach in a clear line. The pick for open walls, steel, and signs where nothing's in the way between the machine and the work.

UP & OVER

Articulating

A knuckle boom that bends at the joints so you can go up, out, and back down over a roofline, a parked truck, or shrubs. Choose this anytime you have to reach over an obstacle to get to the work.

HEIGHT CLASS

How High

Working height is roughly platform height plus six feet of worker reach. Our 4×4 tops out around 60 ft of working height — call your eave or sign height and we'll confirm the machine clears it with room to work.

4×4 TRACTION

Why 4×4

Foam-filled tires and four-wheel drive mean positive traction on dirt, gravel, and grass — not just finished slabs. It drives and sets up on a real job site instead of getting stuck at the edge of the lot.

SAFETY

Train & Tie Off

Operators must be trained and authorized for aerial lifts, and OSHA requires a full-body harness clipped to the platform anchor — not the rail — whenever you're up. We supply harnesses on request and brief you before you leave the yard.

Round Out the Job

Boom Lift
Questions.

Straight answers on reach, boom types, traction, training, and fall protection.

Our Genie 4×4 boom gives you up to 60 ft of working height with about 45 ft of horizontal outreach. Working height is roughly your platform height plus the six feet a worker stands and reaches above the rail, so a 60 ft machine puts your hands close to the eave of a three-story building. Tell us the structure and we'll confirm the right reach.
A telescopic (straight stick) boom gives you the most height and the longest horizontal reach in a straight line — best for open walls, steel, and signs. An articulating (knuckle) boom bends at the joints so you can go up, out, and back down over a roofline, a parked truck, or landscaping. If the path to the work is clear, go telescopic; if you have to reach up and over an obstacle, go articulating.
Yes. This is a rough-terrain 4×4 machine on foam-filled tires, built to drive and set up on dirt, gravel, grass, and graded lots — not just finished slabs. Keep the ground reasonably firm and level; on soft or sloped ground, level it on the outriggers or pads before you raise the platform. If you only need to work indoors on a hard floor, a scissor lift is the cheaper call.
OSHA requires that anyone operating an aerial lift on the job be trained and authorized for that specific type of machine. We'll walk you through the controls, the ground-control override, and the daily checks before you leave the yard, but formal operator training is the renter's responsibility. If your crew isn't trained, tell us and we'll point you in the right direction.
Fall protection is required on a boom lift — OSHA mandates a full-body harness with a lanyard anchored to the platform tie-off point at all times, not the mid-rail or guardrail. The platform has the rated anchor point built in. We can supply harnesses and lanyards with the rental on request; just ask when you reserve so we have them sized and ready.
Yes — we deliver across Halifax, Mecklenburg, Pittsylvania, Charlotte, and Brunswick counties, spot the machine where you want to start, and run you through the controls on site. Delivery is a flat fee by zip with no surprise mileage charges. Call 434-572-6992 for your rate.
